Idlewild Neighborhood - Brief History and Location Information 

The Idlewild neighborhood in Memphis, Tennessee was developed between the 1890's and the 1940's. Because automobiles really didn't have a huge impact on the development of Memphis until the 1920s, you won't see many garages or driveways in the Idlewild neighborhood. 


The Idlewild Historic District is composed of eighteen city blocks in an area bounded by Rembert Street on the west, Central Avenue on the South, South Cooper Street on the east and Linden Avenue on the north.
